Despite the generally over polished state of art, there is a growing community of artists in New York City who still strive to keep things simple and raw. These are the people we included in this screening. The artists included put content before style, expressing themselves without filters in a city that has become all about filters. Ultimately, we were looking for people who are trying to express themselves in an un-glamorized way, people who actually have something to say about the human condition, and people interested in exposing wounds, not just making kitsch art statements.
Allen Frame, who’s short film concludes the screening, is at the center of this community and has taught and mentored most of the contributing artists who include:
Joshua and Zachary Sandler (curators)
Josh Sanchez
Jonathan Caouette
Noah Dodson
Anthony Fuller
Maria Petschnig
O Zhang
Liliana Velez
Jake Selvido
Nung-Hsin Hu
